As mentioned in an earlier post, NY Football Blogs Live will have a new segment with two experts in the field of Fantasy Football ( Well maybe not really experts, but guys who play in a lot of leagues ). Paul Collins and Anthony Aniano will be better known as the : “Two Fantasy Football Freaks” as they will preview each game and give you the best players to play and sit. They will also talk about how they are doing in their own leagues.

You will even get the chance to play against them in the first ever ” NY Football Blogs Fantasy Football League” ( Beat Our 2 Fantasy Football Freaks ). There will be ore details to follow regarding the fantasy league. For now , let’s get to know the “Two Fantasy Football Freaks” a little better:

Paul Collins Bio

Paul is a veteran fantasy football player. Has been playing since Marshall Faulk was a hot commodity to have. He does not have a basic strategy going in, however,Paul often looks for big payoffs from the late round picks. He is aware he can get burned with that strategy, but many times it has paid off for his fantasy teams. Paul is currently in 3 leagues and will join more just so he can prove his winning ways.

Anthony ( Tony ) Aniano

Anthony has been a devout fantasy football and baseball participant for the past twelve years. He follows a strong belief of drafting the best player available while always leaning towards drafting youth. He has been involved in leagues through work, childhood friends, and family. These leagues have allowed Anthony much success and an equal amount of heartbreak. He looks forward to bringing his knowledge to the listeners as well as another successful football season.

According to the New York Jets ( through the Daily News ), Nick Mangold will play Monday night’s Pre-Season game against the Houston Texans. Mangold left practice earlier in the week after being hit in the neck area in a collision. Mangold described his feeling “as numb in the area” ,which would be a concern for any player after a collision on the field. Rex Ryan was also concerned when he saw that Mangold was not moving after the play was over.

The good news is it seems for the Jets and Nick Mangold to be minor and he will indeed be on the field in Texas on Monday when the Jets take on the Houston Texans.

Since Osi Umeniyora’s knee doe not any immediate attention, it seems almost a no brainer he will return on Monday to Giants practice. This does not mean much yet since his agent has mentioned there are still many things they have to iron out. With that being said, both sides are confident things will be worked out. For Giants

It has now become official Plaxico Burress will sit out Monday’s game against the Texans. Burress will not even fly with the team. Rex Ryan announce today that he will not play Plaxico on Monday due to the ankle which has kept him out of many practices so far in this short pre-season.

If nothing else, this will help Burress get some rest for this ankle. It will also keep him home for awhile since the Jets will not travel again after Monday’s game until the third week of the regular season.

Burress, the Jets doctors and Rex Ryan a;; feel confident Plaxico Burress will be ready by the season opener.

So first it was Kevin Boss who mysteriously disappeared from the Giants Roster to the Raiders for more money and now Steve Smith has done the same ( not the same team since he is going to the Eagles ). This just shows that the Giants do not seem to be able and compte with other teams in terms of money.

So what do the Giants lose ?: They lose a great part of Eli Manning’s core of receivers. Yes it is true he was coming off injury, but he still is young and was a great part of the receiving game for the Giants.

So what do the Eagles gain ? : By signing Steve Smith, they now have a receiver who would be a big threat on their side now especially when they play the Giants. They also put another piece of their puzzle together with another big signing and have been hands down the busiest off-season team in the NFL.

By no means can anyone count the Giants out without even playing a game, but if any team has been beaten up more by trades, injuries, and Free-Agent losses please tell me because I do not see a team that is worst shape at the moment. It does not look good for the Giants and their fans.

With the Bills getting ready to play the Bears uncertaintity hangs over this matchup. It seems the field in Chicago ( Soldier Field )is not in as good shape as it needs to be.

The Bears organization had to cancel a fan event earlier in the week due to “Poor field conditions”, but the Bears Front Office have assured the Bills and the NFL that the field will be in good shape for the game on Saturday.

The Bills are a team who have had their share of injuries throughout the last few years and they do not need to start the pre-season with any more injuries. Hopefully the Bears keep their promise and have the field in tip-top shape on Saturday.

If you are a NY football Giants fan coming into this year and with all of the craziness that has happened so far before any Pre-Season or Regular-Season game has started, you must be asking yourself ” Is this a Freakin Soap Opera or something” ?

Well, today another page turned in ” A Giants Fans Stomach Turns” ( The new Fox show before every Giant game this season ) as Osi Umenyiora and the Giants are talking but I do not think they are listening to each other. It has been reported by ESPN.com and other outlets that Osi is now asking for the last year of his contract be removed while the Giants are asking for 13.5 sacks for additional incentives not mentioned.

Both ideas are ridiculous in my opinion. To ask a player to achieve 13.5 sacks in a season may be possible when you are not talking about some of the other cast of characters the Giants currently have on that line. You know guys like Tuck,Kiwanuka, and Pierre-Paul will have their fair share of sacks and make the 13.5 incentive almost unreachable for Osi.

On the other side, The Giants or most any other team will never give a year back to a player for the sole fact they have him at a good deal and why would they want to give him the option. “You are signed -you play” is the thought of most teams owners.

I think both sides are just not being fair. They both have said at one point they both want it to work. The good news right now is that both sides starting talking. The bad news is the talking is unrealistic. The Giants have to come up with a better plan than giving incentives for a goal not reachable and if Osi wants to really be a Giant, he has to stop the abrupt and sort of babyish attitude of Pay me or trade me. If you ask me unless both sides get a grip on reality, I really do not think you will see Osi in a Giants uniform anytime soon.

Ok, so what is today’s date? August 8th- right? and the Eagles are already saying that they are the ” Dream Team ” of the NFL. I will give them credit for the most busy off-season with also the most productive moves on paper, but that is all it is right now PAPER!!!!!!!!!

NFL games are played on the field not in a notebook or a computer, so I think the Eagles need to just tone it down. Now with that being said, Do I think they will be a dominant force in the NFC and for that matter all of the NFL ? Absolutely, but I am just not ready to put this team in the likes of LeBron and company. By the way, being a dream team does not always mean the best things will be the ending outcome. Just ask the Heat.

This brings me to my next point: If the Eagles are the Dream Team, then what are the Giants: The Scream Team ? As much as the NFL did not know the outcome of the Lockout and if there would be football or not, that is pretty much how the Giants short but very dramatic training Camp and weeks leading up to the camp has been so far. Shaun O’Hara and Rich Seubert were cut. Osi Umenyiora refused to play (holdout ). Prince Amukamara did the same and then after finally agreeing, breaks his foot and will be out for an undetermined amount of time.. Cofield left for the Redskins. The Giants’ idea of a big free-agent signing was center David Baas ( really now ? ). Osi Umenyiora shows up, but demanded a trade. Oh and don’t forget he then said he was injured ( WTF? ). TE Kevin Boss, still says he loves the Giants, but left for the Raiders anyway ( more money ). The good news in the Tight end front is they did replace him with Ben Patrick. Oh wait, he announced his retirement after signing with the Giants. What a bummer!!!

Dont’ forget Steve Smith being hurt and a Free Agent and meeting with the Giants. Ok, maybe I changed my mind because after looking at the Giants, most teams in the NFL look dreamy. Coughlin however, and his teams in the past have found a way to make some of the bleakest situations come out right. I am not sure he can do this with team, but we will just have to wait and see.
